Remove Write Protection On USB Pen Drive or Memory Card or iPod

In the past we had received so many problems from the readers who have a problem in copying files on their USB portable devices like pen drives, memory card and iPod etc.

People have seen the following errors when their thumbs drives, memory card etc becomes write protected.
•    Cannot copy files and folders, drive is write protected
•    Cannot format the drive, drive is write protected
•    The disk is write protected
•    Remove write protection or use another disk
•    Media is write protected
Some times people say that suddenly their drive become write protected and they are not able to delete any files and folder on the drive and also not able to copy new files and folder to USB portable drive.
Let’s see how can you remove write protection on your portable devices like pen drives, memory cards, iPod and other USB mass storage devices.
Fix:
Write Protection on any portable USB Device can be applied by the physical lock provided on the card adjuster or some times provided on the pen drives, so make sure to make your drive not write protected by moving the lock in right direction.
But even after moving the physical lock for write protection the problem can happen due to some virus action. This happens when some virus or script which applies the registry hack to make any drive write protect when connected to the computer, In that case follow the procedure below to remove write protection from your pen drive.
1. Open Start Menu >> Run, type regedit and press Enter, this will open the registry editor.
2. Navigate to the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
Note: If the registry key StorageDevicePolicies key does not exist, you will need to create it
Download this batch file called add.bat from here, and double click after download the key will be automatically added to registry.
3. Double click the key WriteProtect in the right pane and set the value to 0 in the Value Data Box and press OK button
4. Exit Registry, restart your computer and then again re-connect your USB pen drive on your computer. That is it, done.

C Drive Full ? Change Default Location for Installation of Programs

AS you know windows uses the C:Program Files directory as the default base directory into which new programs are installed. However, you can change the default installation drive and/or directory by using a Registry hack. Run the Registry Editor by pressing WINDOW KEY+R and then typing regedit into it  and then traverse/follow this path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion.
Look for the value named ProgramFilesDir.
By default, the value will be C:Program Files.
Edit the value to any valid drive or folder;
Now XP will use that new location as the default installation directory for new programs. This registry hack can be very useful when your c drive is full and you automatically want to change the installing directory.Enjoy this cool windows registry hack

Researchers create malware that communicates via silent sound, no network needed

When security researcher Dragos Ruiu claimed malware dubbed "badBIOS" allowed infected machines to communicate using sound waves alone--no network connection needed--people said he was crazy. New research from Germany's Fraunhofer Institute for Communication, Information Processing, and Ergonomics suggests he's all too sane.

As outlined in the Journal of Communications (PDF) and first spotted by ArsTechnica, the proof-of-concept malware prototype from Michael Hanspach and Michael Goetz can transmit information between computers using high-frequency sound waves inaudible to the human ear. The duo successfully sent passwords and more between non-networked Lenovo T400 laptops via the notebooks' built-in microphones and speakers. Freaky-deaky!

The most successful method was based on software developed for underwater communications. The laptops could communicate a full 65 feet apart from each other, and the researchers say the range could be extended by chaining devices together in an audio "mesh" network, similar to the way Wi-Fi repeaters work.

While the research doesn't prove Ruiu's badBIOS claims, it does show that the so-called "air gap" defense--that is, leaving computers with critical information disconnected from any networks--could still be vulnerable to dedicated attackers, if attackers are first able to infect the PC with audio mesh-enabled malware.

Anger FB Status Messages

Telling someone to calm down just makes them so much more angry.
Cute relationship is when someone gets angry with you and says, “I will never talk to you” and later comes back to you to just inform…”I am still angry.”
There is nothing more galling to angry people than the coolness of those on whom they wish to vent their spleen.
ANGER is an acid that does more harm to the vessel in which it is stored, that to anything on which it is poured.
An angry man opens his mouth and shuts his eyes.
